Want to hang back and take in the wildlife? Keep a close watch on the shimmering coastal waters and the town’s distinctive lagoons – you’re sure to catch sight of a whale, porpoise, or sea lion soon. Seagrove Park offers the perfect backdrop for a daytime picnic or a romantic nighttime stroll overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Children can enjoy the playgrounds of coastal Powerhouse Park. Torrey Pines State Park is just south of Del Mar and has much to offer the outdoor enthusiast.

The children of Del Mar attend of one two elementary schools in town run by the Del Mar Unified Schools District: Del Mar Hills Academy or Del Mar Heights Elementary. Close proximity to San Diego means convenient access to prestigious universities and travel options including the San Diego International Airport. For train service, Amtrak has a transit center in nearby Solana Beach.
